Baldur's Gate 1 Best Beginner Class

Welcome to my commentary on best classes BG1 for beginners. The best class for Baldur's Gate 1 beginners is Fighter BG1.

Yep, plain ol' Fighter is the best class to start with in Baldur's Gate 1 due to 1d10 Hit Dice and 18 Con that grants 14 HPs at first level, which is going to increase survivability in the early going when THAC0 can be touch and go.

Rolling with Dwarf BG1 we can get 120 HPs by end-game, regeneration and excellent saving throws. Newbie CHARNAME needs to be able to take hits and auto-recover their depleted HP pools while resting and area-transitioning, and so this is my recommendation.

If we don't mind a steep learning curve and want to begin understanding the most complicated part of combat (Baldur's Gate magic) as early as possible (and arcane spells Baldur's Gate), roll with Mage BG1. This will pay off big-time.
