Assassin Cleric Dual-class BG2
The above screencap depicts an authoritative Core Rules damage calculation.
Build is Assassin (21) → Cleric (32) dual-class Baldur's Gate. The gimmick is septuple multiplier of assassin + Righteous Magic of cleric (which buffs Strength and maximizes the weapon roll).
I'm only interested in unaided damage (no buffs from other combat units).
If the target somehow survives the backstab, it may still incur 30 poison damage + knockback (unconsiousness).
Backstab damage = weapon roll + weapon enchantment + weapon proficiency * backstab level (+ Strength bonus).
Therefore:
Backstab damage = weapon roll [max 6] + weapon enchantment [6] + weapon proficiency [0] + weapon damage bonus [12] * backstab level [7]
+ Strength bonus [14]
Backstab damage = weapon roll + weapon enchantment + weapon proficiency * backstab level (+ Strength bonus).
• Damage sources (some are multiplied; others only added):
- Staff of the Ram BG2 [STAF22]: 18 (1d6 +6 +12 +1d4) (max 28)
- Proficiency +0
- Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise BG2 [BRAC10]: +2 (erroneously cannot wear GoES)
- Chant: +1 (doesn't factor)
- Strength 25: +14 (DUHM + Righteous Magic)
- Backstab x7
- Critical x2
Therefore:
+ Strength bonus [14]
