Gnome Baldur's Gate 1
Gnome is a Baldur's Gate race in BioWare cRPGs of 1998-2001, Baldur's Gate 1 and Baldur's Gate 2. Gnomes are the only race that can multi-class as Specialist (Illusion only). That means they receive +1 spell slot per circle even when multi-classed with Baldur's Gate classes such as Fighter, Cleric or Thief.
Gnome Illusionists cast the most powerful Blindness spell possible, which is a Baldur's Gate Best Spell.
Gnome Description
Kin to dwarves, gnomes are noticeably smaller than their distant cousins. Gnomes, as they proudly maintain, are also less rotund than dwarves. Most have dark tan or brown skin, white hair, and rather large noses. Gnomes have lively and sly senses of humor, especially for practical jokes. They have a love for nature that is only matched by their love for gems and jewelry. Gnomes have natural resistance to magic. They can see in the dark with infravision. They gain a bonus to their intelligence scores, but incur a penalty to their wisdom.
Intelligence +1, Wisdom -1.
Note the Intelligence +1. An Intelligence score of 19 notably reduces spell scribing failure over a score of 18 (though there are also Potions of Genius itemized).
In addition, Gnomes come second only to Half-Elves in number of multi-classing combinations. It is interesting to note that Gnome triple-classes are displayed in Chargen, but are greyed out and not supported: Fighter Illusionist Thief and Fighter Illusionist Cleric.
On balance, Gnome Fighter Illusionist multi-class is BG2 Best Class due to receiving +1 spell slot per circle as well as +1 saving throws vs. Wands and Spells for every 3.5 points in the Con score (+5 at 18 Con).
Gnome F/I saving throws stand at 3-0-4-4-1, before equipment is added.
Gnome Companions Baldur's Gate

Gnome Quotes

- Happy I am, yes I am.
- Who you are, know not I.
- Useful gadgets I have, yes I do.
