Assassin is a BG2 class in BioWare's cRPG of 2000, Baldur's Gate 2. If we mainly want to backstab, the Kensai Thief is better.
The poison damage just isn't that effective in BG2, like the DoV is in BG1. On the other hand, Tuigan BG2 can be laced with poison. Nice.
The best weapon for assassins is Celestial Fury BG2 or Tuigan.
This is a killer trained in discreet and efficient murder, relying on anonymity and surprise to perform his task.
Assassin Advantages
- May coat his weapon in poison once per day per 4 levels. The next hit with that weapon will inject the poison into the target, dealing out 1 damage per second for 24 seconds (3 damage for the first 6 seconds). A saving throw vs. poison limits damage to 12 total.
- Bonus +1 to hit and +1 damage
- Backstab reaches x7 instead of x5
Poison Weapon BG2
Assassins can coat their weapons with poison. Multiple coatings do not stack.
- Coating Duration: 5 rounds
- Area of Effect: Caster's weapon
- On-hit Poison: 2 points of no-save poison damage per second for 12 total. Targets that fail save vs. poison incur an additional point of poison damage per second for 4 rounds.
Assassin Disadvantages
- Only 15% per level to distribute on abilities
Assassin Other
- Magic Resistance Baldur's Gate: Assassins have no problems reaching 100% MR through Use Any Item.
- Recommended HLAs: Use Any Item, Set Spike Trap.
