Cleric BG2
Cleric is a BG2 class in BioWare's cRPG of 2000, Baldur's Gate 2. The three Cleric kits, while still underwhelming, are superior to unkitted Clerics, but the Priest of Lathander is the pick of the bunch.
The problem with pure Clerics is that divine spellcasting pales in comparison to arcane spellcasting (Mage BG2), and their ApR can never match that of Fighter BG2.
If we are seeking a greater spellcasting range as well as martial prowess, Ranger Cleric is a better choice. cf. Ranger Cleric BG2 and Archer Cleric BG2.
The cleric is a generic priest (of any mythos) who tends to the spiritual needs of a community. He is both protector and healer. He is not purely defensive, however, and when evil threatens the cleric is well suited to seek it out on its own ground and destroy it. The opposite is true of evil clerics as well.
