Mirror Image BG2
Mirror Image is a BG2 Best Spell of Illusion spells BG2 type in BioWare's cRPG of 1998-2001, Baldur's Gate 2. Mirror Image is a caster-only illusion-ward that creates up to six mirror images or copies of the caster. Each copy must be dispersed (dispelled or hit) before the caster herself can be hit. It doesn't matter how much damage the hit would have inflicted, 1 HP or 1,000 HPs: the caster cannot be physically harmed until each and every image has been dispersed. If the caster has one image left, she can safely drop Fireball, Skull Trap or even Cloudkill on herself.
At max level, she can refresh five images four times per 8 hours of adventuring. Imagine going up against a caster that can cast five images four times per battle? Your heart would sink. Thus, Mirror Image is the godliest defensive spell on the Infinity Engine, and one of the godliest spells in the entire cRPG genre. cf. Armor Class Baldur's Gate.
Mirror Image is a god-tier spell.

Mirror Image Description
When a mirror image spell is invoked, the spellcaster causes from two to eight exact duplicates of himself to come into being around him. These images do exactly what the wizard does. Since the spell causes a blurring and slight distortion when it is cast, it is impossible for opponents to be certain which are the illusions and which is the actual wizard. When an image is struck by a melee or missile attack, magical or otherwise, it disappears, but any other existing images remain intact until they are struck. However, it is important to note that this will not protect the caster against every attack as it is possible for an enemy to choose the real caster amongst all the images.
Note that Necromancers such as Xzar cannot cast Mirror Image because Illusion is their Opposition School. Thus, Xzar is usually dual-classed into Necro-Cleric.
A second circle illusion that is ranked above Stoneskin due to its invaluable utility in both campaigns. The ability to protect the caster against elemental AoEs in addition to physical attacks and their on-hit negative status effects such as level drain and brain devourings is another reason.
Overall, Mirror Image is the simply the best protective spell in the Bhaalspawn Saga - despite being slightly nerfed in BG2. (It's also the best protective spell in the IWD Series.)

Note that Spike Traps bypass Mirror Image.
Illusion spells BG2 are countered by Scrying spells BG2.
