CRITICAL STRIKE: Baldur's Gate 2, BG2

Critical Strike BG2

In Baldur's Gate 2, Critical Strike is a high level ability or BG2 HLA that is available to warriors such as Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Barbarian and Monk. For one round, all hits are upgraded to critical hits.

So if we've got 10 ApR we're getting 10 critical hits in that round unless the enemy is crit-immune (undead, golems). If the enemy is helmed, we don't get the double damage inflicted by crits but at least we are guaranteed of the hit (because natural 20 crits always hit).

The prequisite to Critical Strike is Power Attack; Critical Strike is the prerequisite to Smite.

Note that Kensai can execute a maximum of 3 successive, at-will Kai Critical Strikes under 10 ApR. However, if we save the game straight after activating Kai, reload, and then activate Critical Strike, we can execute 5 (exploit).

Along with Greater Whirlwind Attack and Hardiness, Critical Strike is the best warrior HLA.

A high level warrior's intimate knowledge of vital spots on opponents allows him to, once per day, concentrate all of the attacks in one round to strike a vital area every time. With this ability, every attack roll made in the next round is a natural 20, a critical hit.
