Kagain Baldur's Gate 1
Kagain Location
Kagain is a Baldur's Gate companion in BioWare's cRPG of 1998, Baldur's Gate 1. Kagain is found in his shop (north of Feldepost's Inn: AR 3353) located in the town of Beregost at the beginning of Chapter One.
Kagain's Quest
Kagain's quest is one of the shortest in cRPG history. To complete the quest, simply take Kagain to the map north of Beregost. In the south of that map, he will see the raided caravan.
I run an escort business. I hire mercenaries to escort caravans en route from Amn to Baldur's Gate. Right now I'm lookin' for some strong sword arms, and I'm willing to pay high. It seems that one of the caravans under my protection never arrived at Baldur's Gate, and I need ta know what happened. You look like a strong group of warriors; interested in a job?

Kagain's Biography
When asked about his past, KAGAIN stresses that the questioner should just mind their own business if they want to keep their teeth. It is apparent that he runs a rather shady mercenary company and that he is quite obsessed with wealth, but any information beyond this he is content to keep to himself.
Best Items for Kagain
- Best weapon for Kagain: Ashideena, Twinkle, Dagger of Venom
- Best armor for Kagan: Full Plate Mail
- Best helm for Kagain: Helm of Balduran
- Best shield for Kagain: Large Shield +1
- Best gauntlets for Kagain: Gauntlets of Dexterity
The only problem with Kagain is his average Dexterity score (13). You will want to give him the Gauntlets of Dexterity (set Dexterity 18) at your earliest opportunity in order to make him a better tank and archer.
Kagain vs. Yeslick
Noble Dwarf versus the Greedy Dwarf; namely, Kagain vs. Yeslick.
Yeslick, formerly of clan Orothiar, represents the classic Tolkien dwarf in that he wants to right wrongs and see poetic justice done.
Yeslick offers sage advice to the party during their adventure. He's one of the best companions for a Good party to have around. It's sort of a pity that we have to wait until Chapter Four to get him.
Kagain, on the other hand, runs a shady mercenary company that has been affected by the banditry plaguing the region. His goal in life is to become stinking rich, and he believes the only thing better than gold is more gold.
Yeslick keeps alluding to Kagain's greed and selfishness.
That third line in the above screencap repeats fairly often, sounds very funny to me, and it really pisses Kagain off:
This next one is the best exchange. It's also the last straw:
Only hammer and axe can settle this once and for all.
