Valygar Location

Valygar Corthala is a Baldur's Gate companion in BioWare's cRPG of 2000, Baldur's Gate 2. Valygar is found in his cabin in the north of Umar Hills in Chapter 2. Speak to Delon in the Government District to get UH map-marked. Either Valygar or his corpse is needed in order to enter the Planar Sphere.

While an undeniably solid companion, Valygar would have been much cooler if he was an Archee BG2 or could have been dual-classed to Cleric.

His weapons of choice are Celestial Fury BG2 and Staff of the Ram BG2.

Valygar's Stats

Valygar has strong martial stats as Stalker BG2. He doesn't need items to fix his stats.

Valygar's Biography

When asked about his past, VALYGAR is silent for a long time and his face becomes grim.  He explains briefly that he is the last of the Corthala noble line, a family that was once one of the wealthiest in Amn.  The Corthalas have always been cursed with magical ability, however, and Valygar spits the words with great derision.  Every Corthala who has used their magical talents has become obsessed with them and ultimately come to a grievous end.  His mother was the most recent victim, although the ranger does not elaborate on the point.  Valygar intends to fulfill his family's oath to find and destroy their ancestor, Lavok, and then he intends to let his cursed bloodline die out once and for all. 

Valygar comes equipped with weapon and armor.

Corthala Family Blade

This fine katana radiates magical energy when wielded by Valygar. The blade was designed to respond only to those with the blood of the family Corthala flowing through their veins. This +2 blade causes additional bleeding damage when it strikes an opponent.

Corthala Family Armor

This armor, long in the Corthala bloodline, protects the user against all forms of attacks. The armor is enchanted so that it grants a +3 bonus to Valygar's armor class. It also adds a bonus to resisting acid, fire and magical damage. The armor also makes Valygar immune to charm while he wears it.  As it is specially fitted for Valygar, few other than he may wear it.

• Bonuses: +25% Resistance to fire, acid, and magic damage resistance BG2 (very unique!)

• Usable By: Valygar or Thief UAI
• Erroneous: Does not disable arcane spellcasting. Fixed in BG2 Fixpack.
• You must have a Dexterity score >=18 and a Wisdom score >=14 to wear Valygar's armor with Use Any Item BG2.
