CROM FAEYR
Crom Faeyr vs Flail of Ages
Crom Faeyr is a BG2 best weapon in BioWare's cRPG of 2000, Baldur's Gate 2. Crom Faeyr is the most overrated weapon in BG2. That doesn't mean Crom Faeyr isn't a great, a mighty and an awesome weapon, but calling it THE BEST weapon is too much. The best weapon is Flail of Ages BG2.
Why not wield both? As in, dual-wielding: Flail of Ages on-hand and Crom Faeyr off-hand? Well, we sometimes do. But Belm BG2 is a superior off-hander to Crom because the BG2 ApR bonus is preferable to the Strength bonus.
As an item, Crom Faeyr receives a cRPG Itemization score of 7/10. While it is a powerful weapon, it does not break the game.

Strength 25 Conferred by Crom Faeyr
The Titan Strength (a Strength score of 25) bestowed by Crom Faeyr is not that big of a deal because there are many ways to boost the Strength score; f.e, potions, items, spells, quests and Blackrazor BG2.
Crom Faeyr On-hit Electrical Damage
Crom Faeyr On-hit Slay
This is always a cool property to have on a weapon, but it's not like there are hordes of ettins, trolls and golems, is there? Most of the ones we'd struggle against would be killed off already, long before we have Crom, unless we bee-lined to Spellhold. Vorpal BG2 is far superior to monster-specific slay.
Crom Faeyr Lore
This is the true name that the dwarven weaponsmith, Silverblade, gave to the weapon he intended to create for his son. Alas, his son died before the weapon was ever completed, but here it stands complete... forged from the combined magic of the original hammer with the Gauntlets of Ogre Power and a Girdle of Frost Giant Strength. Crom Faeyr gifts its users with all the powers of the original Hammer of Thunderbolts, in addition to enormous strength and the ability to kill golems, ettins and trolls in one blow.
How to Make Crom Faeyr
Acquisition and assembly of Crom Faeyr isn't available until post-Underdark, when, most notably, we have to sacrifice the Gauntlets of Ogre Power and Girdle of Frost Giant Strength in order to have Cromwell forge it. Cromwell is located in his smithy on the Docks in Athkatla.
Crom Faeyr Components
The components that Cromwell needs in order to forge Crom Faeyr are Hammer of Thunderbolts, Crom Faeyr Scroll, Gauntlets of Ogre Power and Girdle of Frost Giant Strength.
Hammer of Thunderbolts
The item code for the Hammer of Thunderbolts is HAMM07. The Hammer of Thunderbolts is found in the Illithid Lair of the Sewers under the Temple District. We must first get the key to the sewers from the corpse of Tazok in Firkraag's Lair in Windspear Hills.
Crom Faeyr Scroll
The item code for the Crom Faeyr scroll is SCRLAG. The Crom Faeyr Scroll is found on the corpse of the Shadow Dragon, in the Temple Ruins. To get there, we have to speak to the mayor in Umar Hills and then find Mazzy's note in the ranger's cabin, also in Umar Hills.
Gauntlets of Ogre Power
The item code for the Gauntlets of Ogre Power BG2 is BRAC06. The Gauntlets of Ogre Power are found in the Planar Sphere of the Slums District. We first must find Valygar in his cabin at Umar Hills, and either use him or his corpse to open the sphere.
Girdle of Frost Giant Strength
The item code for the Girdle of Frost Giant Strength is BELT08. The Girdle of Frost Giant Strength is found in the Underdark on the corpse of a slain Death Knight.
Compare that with the acquisition and assembly of the Flail of Ages BG2: talk to Nalia in the Copper Coronet, go to de'Arnise Keep, find the three flail heads in the Keep, and forge the flail. We barely have to fight anything, and its ours at the beginning of Chapter Two. And it's free. And better. Much better.
