Blackrazor is a BG2 best weapon in BioWare's cRPG of 2000, Baldur's Gate 2. Blackrazor's on-hit level-draining and on-hit stacking Strength are insanely powerful.

Blackrazor is a veteran's secret; a veteran's wield. It's yet another reason why we don't bother with Crom Faeyr BG2 so much.

With high ApR (dual-wielding + Belm BG2), we can crank our Strength to Titan level (25) in no time. This is the weapon's main selling point. Then, we swap out the weapon for our main on-hander, which is likely to be the Flail of Ages BG2 or Celestial Fury BG2. Or a Monk BG2 Fist or a Black Blade of Disaster.

Don't underestimate Blackrazor's on-hit cumulative level drain: sure, the +3 enchantment means it's useless against foes such as demi-liches, Demogorgon, The Ravager BG2 and the Ust Natha Demon Lord (which are immune to level drain, anyway), but that doesn't mean we can't LD everything else, including Firkraag BG2.

Despite its evil nature, this sword may be wielded by Paladin BG2 without negative consequences.

As an item, Blackrazor receives a cRPG Itemization score of 8/10. It is ok to itemize powerful weapons late in the game when most players won't even find them, let alone take advantage of their abilities.

Blackrazor Stats

The stats of the Blackrazor longsword are THAC0 +3, 1d8 +3 slashing, Speed Factor: 2, Immunity: Charm & Fear, Regen 1 HP per 5 secs, on-hit 15% chance Level Drain, on-hit self-heal 20 HPs, on-hit Haste and on-hit 100% cumulative Strength +3 for 20 secs.

• Regeneration: 1 hp every 5 seconds
• Immunity to Charm and Fear
• With every hit it has a 15% chance of draining 4 levels, healing the wielder by 20 hit points, and hasting him for 20 seconds as well as increasing his strength by 3 points for 20 seconds.

Blackrazor Lore

This sword radiates evil like a sour odor, and the owner never knows if he wields the weapon, or if it wields him. In addition to its combat abilities, Blackrazor slowly regenerates its owner with the drained strength of opponents.

Blackrazor Location

Blackrazor is found just before going up against Slayer Irenicus in Hell. We can dodge the permanent Evil-alignment shift as part of the Greed Bhaaltear by simply pickpocketing Blackrazor from the genie. By doing that, we can keep Blackrazor with no negative consequences.
