Half-Orc Baldur's Gate 2

Half-orc Baldur's Gate 2

Half-orc is a Baldur's Gate race in BioWare cRPGs of 1998-2001, Baldur's Gate 1 and Baldur's Gate 2. Historically, Half-Orcs are a BG2-only race. They are NOT a playable race in the original BG1.

Half-Orcs can be Fighter, Cleric, Thief or Barbarian as well as the double multi-classes of Fighter Thief, Fighter Cleric and Cleric Thief, which is cool.

However, Dwarves are better multi-class candidates than Half-Orcs due to their +saving throws, and Gnomes make better Cleric Thieves due to their +saving throws.

While 19 Con Dwarves can attain innate regen as early as first level (Con 20: Manual of Bodily Health), Half-Orcs can't legally and permanently acquire regen until the end of SoA (because Half-Orcs are NOT a chooseable race in original BG1, which is the only version of Baldur's Gate that matters).

But then, such slow regen barely matters in SoA or ToB, which doesn't have any kind of tough journeying whatsoever (fatigue, the need to rest, and deadly ambushes and waylays).

Half-orc Description

Half-orcs are born from the union of human and orc parents. They are as tall as humans, but a little heavier due to their muscular builds. Their greenish pigmentation, sloping forehead, jutting jaw, prominent teeth and coarse body hair make their lineage plain for all to see.  In the lands of Amn, half-orcs are tolerated, as unlike in the north the people of Amn haven't had centuries of warfare with orc kind. Half-orcs are known for their great strength.

Strength +1Constitution +1Intelligence -2Charisma -1.

The only advantage of the Half-Orc is a fleeting one, and is basically irrelevant when potions and other itemization such as Crom Faeyr and Blackrazor is factored in: Strength +1.

There is no long-standing difference between Half-Orc and Dwarven Barbarians except in saving throws: 3-5-4-4-6 vs. 0-0-4-4-1. Dwarf wins by a mile. By rights, Dwarf, Halfling and Gnome STs should drop lower when they reach the next Constitution breakpoint, but BioWare didn't implement that beyond a score of 20.
