Protection From Magical Weapons (PfMW) is a BG2 Best Spell of combat protections BG2 type in BioWare's cRPG of 2000-2001, Baldur's Gate 2.

This sixth circle god-tier abjuration not only protects against magical weapons but also their on-hit elemental damage and on-hit negative status effects such as Stun - unlike Stoneskin.

Plus, its limited four-round duration can be refreshed before the spell's expiration. Mages and Sorcerers will also have Mirror Image and Stoneskin active in addition; thus, they feel pretty safe.

PfMW is a god-tier spell.

Along with Mirror Image and Stoneskin, PfMW constitutes strong Mage BG2 defense.

When the spell is cast it confers complete invulnerability to all magical weapons. This includes weapons that are blessed or enchanted. The attacks of powerful monsters are also considered magical weapons.  This spell cannot be cast on anyone who is protected from normal weapons as well as anyone protected by mantle, improved mantle, or absolute immunity. Due to the nature of this spell with the short speed factor and duration it is mainly used to buy the wizard a few rounds in the thick of combat. This effect lasts for the duration of the spell or until dispelled.

Combat protections are brought down by weapon ward removers, most commonly Breach BG2.
