CLOUDKILL: Baldur's Gate 2 BG2

Cloudkill is a Baldur's Gate spell in BioWare's cRPG of 1998-2001, Baldur's Gate.

  • Cloudkill (Evocation) [SCRL2E]
  • Level: 5
  • Range: 10 yards
  • Duration: 1 turn
  • Casting Time: 5
  • Area of Effect: 40' wide, 20' high,
  • 20' deep cloud
  • Saving Throw: None

This spell generates a billowing cloud of ghastly, yellowish green vapors that is so toxic as to slay any creature with fewer than 4 +1 Hit Dice, and cause creatures with 4 +1 to 6 Hit Dice to roll saving throws vs. poison with - 4 penalties or be slain.  Holding one's breath has no effect on the lethality of the spell. Those above 6th level (or 6 Hit Dice) must leave the cloud immediately, or suffer 1d10 points of poison damage each round while in the area of effect.

◦ Cloudkill (Evocation, SCRL2E): Upgraded Stinking Cloud. A poisonous long-cast damage-over-time 40-radius AoE that auto-slays <=4+1 HD, slays 5 HD on a failed save vs. poison at -4 and inflicts 1-10 poison dmg per round on >=6 HD for up to 10 rounds. The poison damage stacks with multiple castings. Note that our skeleton summons become aggro if they are caught within CK's AoE because they are not immune to its poison dmg.
Rank: Top-tier.

Note: There is a rechargeable wand of Cloudkill, which allows easier solos for non-casters.

Cloudkill can instantly slay TorGal in BG2. In SCS, its damage-over-time is still very useful, too.
