Weapon Master NWN



Weapon Master is a NWN class in BioWare's cRPG of 2002, Neverwinter Nights 1.

The Weapon Master Build is popular for a reason: the ability to get a steady stream of crits going (scimitar NWN) or big bursty crits (scythe NWN) is pretty difficult to ignore. Of course, it's useless against crit-immunes but that doesn't dissuade powergamers, who like to Great Cleave epic mobs as if they were diseased gibberlings (350 dmg crits, ftw).

Don't be afraid to mix-in Monk NWN and dual-wield keen kamas; it kicks ass. I prefer the scythe due to big bursty numbers and getting around looking like the grim reaper; it's also the most damaging wield according to those who have done the math. Yes, it's obvious that being able to hold up a shield in your off-hand is a great perk - which makes scims the go-to weapon - but you don't need to be an AC lord in most campaigns, and sword n board just isn't as bad-ass as wielding a great weapon or dual-wielding twin-blades.

Weapon Master Description


For the weapon master, perfection is found in the mastery of a single melee weapon. A weapon master seeks to unite this weapon of choice with his body, to make them one, and to use the weapon as naturally and without thought as any other limb.

  • Hit Die: d10.
  • Proficiencies: A weapon master does not gain any additional weapon or armor proficiencies.
  • Skill Points: 2 + Int Modifier.

Weapon Master Requirements



The requirements for Weapon Master are Base Attack Bonus +5, Weapon Focus NWN in a melee weapon, Dodge, Mobility, Expertise, Spring Attack and Whirlwind Attack.

We also need four or more ranks in the Intimadate skill.

Weapon Master Abilities


Weapon of Choice Weapon Master


1st level: One weapon is chosen and thereafter all Weapon Master special abilities will only work while that type of weapon in equipped.

  • Type of Feat: Class.
  • Prerequisite: Weapon Focus (with weapon to be chosen).
  • Specifics: The weapon chosen to be a weapon of choice by a Weapon Master becomes the focus for all of their special abilities.
  • Use: Automatic.

Ki Damage Weapon Master


1st level: Once per day per level maximum damage is dealt.

  • Type of Feat: Class.
  • Prerequisite: Weapon of Choice, Weapon Master level 1.
  • Specifics: Once per day per level, a Weapon Master may use this feat to do maximum damage to their opponent.
  • Use: Selected.

Increase Multiplier Weapon Master


5th level: Add 1x to weapon critical damage multiplier (i.e. 2x becomes 3x, 3x becomes 4x, etc.).

  • Type of Feat: Class.
  • Prerequisite: Weapon of Choice, Weapon Master level 5.
  • Specifics: With their weapon of choice, the multiplier is increased by x1 to all critical hits. Thus a x2 critical multiplier becomes a x3. 
  • Use: Automatic.

Superior Weapon Focus Weapon Master


5th level: Add +1 to attacks with weapon of choice.

  • Type of Feat: Class
  • Prerequisite: Weapon of Choice, Weapon Master level 5.
  • Specifics: The Weapon Master gains a +1 bonus to all attack rolls with their weapon of choice.
  • Use: Automatic.

Ki Critical Weapon Master


7th level: Add +2 to weapon of choice threat range.

  • Type of Feat: Class
  • Prerequisite: Weapon of Choice, Weapon Master level 7.
  • Specifics: The Weapon Master gains an additional +2 to the threat range of their weapon of choice.
  • Use: Automatic.
