Maximum Backstab Damage, BG1, Baldur's Gate

Maximum Backstab Damage BG1

Build is Fighter Thief dual-class BG1 (6/9). It foregoes ApR Baldur's Gate +½ for +1 backstab multiplier (quadruple/x4).

Backstab damage = weapon roll + weapon enchantment + weapon proficiency * backstab level (+ Strength bonus).

Maximum backstab in Baldur's Gate 1 is achieved as follows:

Therefore:

Backstab damage = weapon roll [max 6] + weapon enchantment [3] + weapon specialization [4] + weapon damage bonus [9] * backstab level [4]
+ Strength bonus [14] = 102.

Which would equate to 204 on a crit, but the above-screencapped 196 was my personal maximum on a single backstab. Even without a crit, this is enough to insta-slay any backstabble enemy that isn't cheating with one hit.

Strength 25 = DUHM + Potion of X Giant Strength or Violet Potion.

Staff of Striking BG1

Staffs of Striking are made by the Gold Elves of Drelagara on Evermeet. The staffs have a life of their own and jump to attack in their bearer's hands. The elven craftsmen rarely sell them to other races but these powerful melee weapons do surface occasionally in Faerun. However, each attack made with the staff uses a charge, hence causing it to consume itself when no charges remain.
