Pyrotechnic Axe Arcanum

Pyrotechnic Axe is an Arcanum weapon in Troika's cRPG of 2001, Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura. Pyrotechnic Axe schematic is found in the basement of the Willoughsby Residence at 19 Pickwick Alley, Tarant. Acquisition is made more difficult due to the schematic being held in a locked chest, guarded by Mechanized Arachnids.

The schematic has a 5% chance to spawn in quality blacksmith vendor inventories, and a 10% chance to spawn in Dwarven smithy vendor inventories (e.g., Wallow's Quality Armor, Tarant).

Forget those uncontrollable Fire Elementals that are always attacking you instead of your enemies!  With the Pyrotechnic Axe, made by combining the Feather-Weight Axe and Fuel, you can leave behind your magickal miseries and become a fiery god of the inferno all by yourself!  Amazing!

In order to forge the axe, we need 20 Expertise in Smithy and 8 in Explosives technological disciplines.

Pyrotechnic Axe is notable for its on-hit fire damage. It requires a Strength score of 10 to wield with a shield, 8 without one. Note that the Speed rating (which dictates AP expenditure) is dependent on the character's training in the Melee skill. e.g., Apprentice level Melee confers a 5-point bonus to SR, which lowers the AP expenditure of swinging the axe.
