City Improvements Civ2
There are 38 City Improvements in MicroProse's TBS Game of 1996, Civilization 2.
Each City Improvement has an initial cost in Shields, an upkeep cost in Gold and (in almost all cases) an Advances prerequisite.
Don't build City Improvements "just because" they are available to be built: their upkeep will drain your cash reserves and keep your Civ sitting well and truly on the poverty line for decades, centuries and millennia. Only build what needs to be built. Often, it is best to build nothing at all for extended intervals. Over-building is one of the biggest mistakes you can make in Civ2.
Note that some City Improvements can be auto-built Civ-wide by certain Wonders of the World. These are linked to in the list within parentheses.
In addition, it is very important to note that Adam Smith's Trading and Co. grants free upkeep for no fewer than eight (8) City Improvements, which I have indicated in the list with "ASTC" in parentheses.
The best City Improvement in Civ2 is the Granary. No other building is as useful as the Granary. Next would come Library and Temple.
If playing on Deity difficulty level, City Walls and Barracks become priorities due to Barbarian raiding party spawn strength and frequency.
