NWN2 User Interface Mods
NWN2 Change the size of the font in the Chat window
- Find fontfamily.xml in ...\UI\default of your NWN2 install folder (not the My Documents folder)
- Copy it to your Override folder in My Documents
- Edit the first four pointsize values (12) to whatever you like. For me, 16 is perfect
- Save the file
NWN2 UI Mods
For Tchos', it is recommended that you also install NWN1 portraits for NWN2 and NWN2 OC and MotB portraits. Otherwise, the default portraits won't fit properly in their frames and their aspect ratio will be wrong.
I just use the following two mini-mods when playing on my laptop (1366x768 resolution):
It just extends the height of the Examine item window so that you don't have to scroll down to read the description of the item. Very convenient! (pic)
Yes, it simply adds another row to the hotbar. You need SoZ installed for this to work. This is a great lil' mod, too!
Simply reduces the width of the health bars next to your portraits. Note that Small Portraits may crash your game. See also: NWN2 Message Box Patch.
Removes the 3d model of your character on the level-up screen (stupid idea that reminded me of Bethesda's Oblivion) and allows you to control your char while leveling-up. This one does not seem to work with the GoG version; however I can confirm that it works with 1.10 (MotB). Update: Another mod has been uploaded that does the same thing and works on 1.023 (1765).
Interested in making your own UI mod? A great starting point for XML coding has been posted by Lance Botelle: NWN2 XML & GUI Coding For Beginners.
For those who don't know, Mr. Botelle built The Scroll campaign which employs the most ambitious UI and mechanics modding I have seen on the Electron platform (demo vid) (demo of pseudo-turn-based combat).
