NWN2 Console Commands Guide
Neverwinter Nights 2 console mode is called up with the tilde key (~). As of patch 1.10, console commands in NWN2 are no longer case-sensitive. Thus, simply type debugmode 1.
Type trees and renderwater in order to toggle them. You can toggle the day/night cycle with daynight. showfps will display the FPS.

NWN2 gfxoptions Console Commands
gfxoptions calls up a menu with tabs and sliders for weather, bloom, sun, shadows, water, normals and HDR. There is also a fog cam. You can type logcommands to have the 214 console commands outputted to a text file (console_commands.txt in the root installation folder).
NWN2 Cheats
The most useful cheats are dm_god, givexp {value}, giveitem {item code}, givespell {spell code}, givefeat {feat code} and dm_givegold {value}.
You can set Ability scores with, e.g., SetSTR {value}.
Don't forget to exit the console with debugmode 0.
NWN2 Combat Debugging
In addition, enablecombatdebugging 1 causes a much more detailed combat log to appear in the feedback window.
Disable the annoying buy/sell confirmation. Either disable in nwn2player.ini (BuySellConfirm=0), or under Interface if you're in the game.
nwn2.ini & nwn2player.ini
There are two configuration files that you can tweak: nwn2.ini and nwn2player.ini. These are located in your Documents folder (e.g, C:\Users\..\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2).
Bypass Intro Movies
To bypass those obnoxious intro movies, add this line in nwn2.ini under Display Options: Disable Intro Movies=1. Now you never have to click through them ever again.
NWN2 Windowed Mode
To play the game in windowed mode, simply change FullScreen=1 to FullScreen=0 in nwn2.ini (and set your desired windowed resolution).
NWN2 Camera
The camera is not as bad as some people make it out to be. That's not to say there are no issues with regard to it but, in my opinion, they are minor (aka quirks) IF you set things up with the Strategy cam.
NWN2 Strategy Mode Cam
Now the game pretty much plays like isometric RPGs of the past except that you can also rotate and zoom your view. You can fix a tactical angle and then track along it like a dolly cam on rails. Very, very cool.
You can tweak cam settings in nwn2player.ini; f.e, if the edge turn is too slow or fast, tweak the Edge_Turn entries. If you feel "right-click: hold" to be sluggish, then try minimizing the Context Menu Delay in Game Options: Interface. Further to that, if you dislike the fadein/fadeout of the panels (ie, inventory, journal etc), you can disable fade by editing the XML files. This is a bit more work, though.

Turn the AI off
The switch is located in the bottom-left of the main interface. NWN2 employs FPC. Learn to micro-manage your units in Puppet Mode (Behavior Tab of Character Record). With AI off and Puppet Mode on, you might like to assign a hotkey for Group Selection. To do that, go to Options, Keymapping, Miscellaneous, Strategy Mode, and double-click Toggle Group Selection.
Disable Shadows & Water
Disable Shadows if your PC sucks. Yes, they look great and add heaps to the atmosphere, but they are a massive resource hog. Electron is awful in its optimization, overall.
But still, everyone's PC is different; for example, I go from 10 FPS to 40 FPS if I disable Shadows completely. Disabling Water Refractions & Water Reflections nets me a further +10 FPS.
NWN2 Disable Autosave
This one comes with a warning. Maybe only do this if you're a disciplined "manual saver" like I am (i.e, you make separate, named saves at intervals). I have found this very useful in Storm of Zehir because it auto-saves too frequently for my patience and I don't like to wait for it to do so. Anyway, just add this line under [Server Options] in nwn2player.ini: Disable AutoSave=1.
NWN2 Load times
Loadtimes can be long on old PC or badly build PCs. Defrag your drive, get yourself a decent HDD, a fast CPU and lots good quality RAM. It makes a massive difference.
If you still need more speed, get yourself an SSD or set up a RAMDisk.
NWN2 Client Extension
You may occasionally notice that your party members cease to move smoothly on the playing field; they sort of stutter as they move. Rebooting your PC should fix this problem. You could also install the Jade Empire Stutter Fix or try out the NWN2 Client Extension.
NWN2 Savegames Disappearing or Getting Corrupted
- Solution: Don't run NWN2 through GoG Galaxy, or turn off cloud saves.
NWN2 Character Moving Slowly or Can't Move
Help! My character/companion movement speed is decreased but I am not encumbered and I am not diseased or poisoned.
- Solution: You probably have Search mode on (the magnifying glass). If turning it off doesn't fix the problem then it's a bug. Dying/respawning should fix it.
