Expertise NWN


Expertise is a General feat in BioWare's cRPG Definition of 2002, Neverwinter Nights. The Expertise bonus to AC is useful for survivability, and NWN Builds with extra-high attack bonuses, such as Weapon Masters, may not feel the penalty all that much.


Notably, dedicated spellcasters such as Wizards, Clerics and Druids can employ Expertise and feel the penalty even less, since AB isn't a factor in the casting of most spells. However, Expertise for spellcasters is far from necessary in NWN modules that aren't Swordflight.

Expertise Feat Rules


  • Type of Feat: General
  • Prerequisite: Int 13+.
  • Required for: Improved Expertise, Whirlwind Attack
  • Specifics: A character with this feat can make defensive attacks, gaining a +5 bonus to AC but receiving a -5 penalty to attack rolls.
  • Use: Combat Mode.


Improved Expertise Feat Rules


  • Type of Feat: General
  • Prerequisite: Int 13+, Expertise.
  • Specifics: A character with this feat can make defensive attacks, gaining a +10 bonus to AC but receiving a -10 penalty to attack rolls.
  • Use: Combat Mode.
