id Software released Commander Keen: Invasion of the Vorticons: Episode One: Marooned On Mars for IBM PC MS-DOS in December of 1990. An innovative and technically impressive platform game, Commander Keen was programmed by John Carmack and John Romero.

Commander Keen displays in double-buffered 16-color EGA 320x200 and features 40 FPS vertical and horizontal screen-scrolling via Carmack's Adaptive Tile Refresh.
Commander Keen requires an 808x CPU, 520K of free conventional memory and an EGA graphics card with 256K vRAM. Commander Keen was distributed on 1x 5.25" 360kB DS DD floppy disk and installs to hard disk drive via copy *.*. The install size is 400kB.

Keen 6 was distributed on 2x 5.25" 360kB DS DD floppy disks. Keen 6 extracts and installs to hard disk drive via Commander Keen Installation program. The install size is 720kB.
