Tactics Mod BG2

Tactics Modification Pack BG2

.
The Tactics Modification Pack is a Baldur's Gate 2 mod for BioWare's cRPG of 2000-2001, Baldur's Gate 2. The Tactics mod is a precursor to SCS BG2.

For Baldur's Gate 2 veterans, the Tactics mod can be a lot of fun due to its extreme difficulty. Naturally, new players should steer clear.

Note that Dark Side of the Sword Coast for Baldur's Gate 1 featured tactical combat encounters before the advent of BG2, Tactics and SCS. Namely, its Forest Dragon, Dark One Lich and big mob encounters.

Tactics Mod BG2 Components

Note that some Tactics components can be used with SCS, but some can't be. Basically, it's best to stick with just adding the Tactics encounters, namely: Improved Ilyich, The Ritual, Kuroisan, Red Badge, Lich in the Docks, Gnome Fighter Illusionist in the Docks and Improved Crypt King. Tactics Modification Pack Kits

The Tactics Mod adds two powerful Fighter BG2 kits to Baldur's Gate 2.

Tactics Fighter Class Archer Kit (Fighter Kit)

The generic archer is the epitome of skill with the bow. He is the ultimate marksman, able to make almost any shot, no matter how difficult. To become so skilled with the bow, the archer has had to sacrifice some of his proficiency with melee weapons and armor. Traditional missile weapons are slings, short bows, long bows, darts and crossbows.

Fighter Class Archer kit is as per Archer BG2 but with dual-class and melee Specialization (instead of Stealth and a focused enemy).

Fighter Class Archer Kit Advantages

  • Can dual-class
  • Can Grandmaster in missile weapons and specialize in melee weapons
  • +1 to hit, and +1 to damage with any missile weapon for every 3 levels of experience.
  • Every 4 levels he gains the ability to make a called shot once per day. When he activates this ability, any shot made within the next 10 seconds is augmented in the following manner (according to the level of the archer):
  • 4th level: -1 to THAC0 BG2 of target
  • 8th level: -1 to save vs magic of target
  • 12th level:-1 to strength of target
  • 16th level: +2 bonus to damage

Fighter Class Archer Kit Disadvantages

  • An archer can only specialize in melee weapons; he may never obtain mastery.
  • An archer cannot wear any metal armor.

Tactics Anti-Paladin Kit (Fighter Kit)

The Anti-Paladin has dedicated his life to finding and eliminating practicioners of good magic and defeating the forces of light, and his dark god has provided him with special abilities toward that end. Anti-Paladins take a special joy in inflicting pain and suffering.

Anti-Paladin Kit is as per Inquisitor BG2 but with Grandmastery BG2 and dual-class potential.

Anti-Paladin Kit Advantages

  • Can dual-class
  • Can Grandmaster in weapons
  • May use 'Dispel Magic' ability once per day per 4 levels (starts at 1st level with one use): ability is used at speed factor 1 and acts at twice his actual level.
  • May cast 'True Sight' once per day per 4 levels (starts at 1st level with one use)
  • Immune to Hold and Charm spells
  • 'Dispel Magic' on every melee hit

Anti-Paladin Kit Disadvantages

  • May not use standard paladin weapons like Holy Avengers (Carsomyr BG2)
  • May not Turn Undead
  • May not cast Clerical spells
  • Must be Evil
