Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition - Siege of Dragonspear New Companions List Quests Stats Locations Romances



This post covers the companions (aka recruitable NPCs) that may join your party in Beamdog's Siege of Dragonspear. It is being actively updated in light of my progression. The purpose of this post is to make it EZ for people who just want to know who the companions are, where and when they may be found, what stats and items they have, and to whom they are paired and mutually exclusive (if applicable); in other words, it's a quick reference guide. For pro-tips, context and more info on companions please refer to my walkhrough.

• If you didn't strip them of items at the Interlude's conclusion, companions should have them on their person when you recruit them later in the campaign. In addition, they should have their player-allotted proficiencies, skills and spells. Companions who were not recruited in BG:EE will be in possession of their default items, profs, skills and spells. 

• There are fifteen companions in the campaign: seven Good, four Neutral and four Evil.

• Combat & Utility roles. There are three conventional tanks, five physical-based damage dealers, five arcane spellcasters, four divine spellcasters and two capable thieves.

• Thieves are not vital but I recommended you bring one along.

• Party composition is not as important as in the early stages of BG:EE. You will have access to most companions for a large portion of the adventure. They are in most cases not "missable". Campaign level gain is only 1-2 levels, so making a change late in the campaign is not going to hit you all that hard.

• Companion quests: Minsc & Dynaheir, Khalid & Jaheira, Corwin, Safana, Neera, M'Khiin, Glint, Edwin.

• Eight companions are romanceable: Corwin, Neera, Safana, Viconia, Dorn, Glint,  Rasaad,  and Voghiln. Romances are not timed or dependent on resting, as in BG2: their stages are instead ensured by proximity triggers on "goat tracks" of the playing field. This should make it harder to miss a stage of the romance, or break it.

•   Caelar Argent   is not counted in the above notes. For more info on Caelar as companion please consult Part XV of my walkthrough.

   Baeloth Barrityl

Stats: Strength 12 | Dexterity 14 | Constitution 16 | Intelligence 19 | Wisdom 12 | Charisma 16
Time — location of recruitment:  Beginning of Chapter Eight — North-central section of the Coast Way Crossing (annotated on map as: Baeloth's Black Pit to End All Black Pits).
Baeloth's Custom equipmentBarrityl's Burden (+3 first, second and third circle spell slots, THAC0 -5 vs. genies, dmg -5 vs. genies, Create random gem or damage wearer 1/day). If you didn't strip him of items at the Interlude's conclusion, he should have them on his person.
Baeloth's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Lore (21).
Baeloth's Weapon Proficiencies: Quarterstaff (Proficient), Dart (Proficient).
Choice spells chosen by defaultArmor, Chromatic Orb (Stun), Identify, Magic Missile, Blur, Invisibility, Mirror Image, Web, Dispel Magic, Fireball, Haste, Skull Trap, Spirit Armor, Stoneskin
Perks: Dark Elves sport innate 65% magic resistance (MR).
Reputation decrease upon recruitment: -2.

   Captain Shael Corwin

Corwin's Custom equipmentCorwin's Bow +1 (composite longbow, THAC0 +2, damage +3, Dex +1, 10% on-hit Entangle for 3 rounds, save vs. breath negates), Corwin's Armor +1 (light chainmail, AC 3 [1 vs. slashing, 5 vs. crushing], Movement Speed +1, Magic Resistance +10%).
Corwin's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Hide in Shadows (52), Move Silently (57), Lore (6), Racial Enemy: Skeleton.
Corwin's Weapon Proficiencies: Halberd (Proficient), Longbow (Specialized), Two-Handed Weapon Style (Proficient), Two-Weapon Style (Specialized).
Romanceable? Yes (I'm currently romancing Corwin.)

   Dorn Il-Kharn   
(Neutral Evil Half-orc Blackguard)


Stats: Strength 19 | Dexterity 16 | Constitution 14 | Intelligence 10 | Wisdom 15 | Charisma 16
Time — location of recruitment: Midway point of Chapter Nine — Free him from the Crusader Camp at Bridgefort. Depending on your plot advancement at that point, he may be found and recruited at either the Flaming Fist Encampment in the Troll Claw Forest, or at the Party Encampment in the south of the Coalition Camp (Chapter Ten).
Dorn's Custom equipment: If you didn't strip him of items at the Interlude's conclusion, he should have them on his person.
Dorn's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Lore (11), Turn Undead (6).
Dorn's Weapon Proficiencies: Two-Handed Sword (Specialized), Warhammer (Specialized), Two-Handed Weapon Style (Specialized).
Perks: Absorb Health, Poison Weapon, Aura of Despair.
Romanceable? Yes.

   Dynaheir

(Lawful Good Human Invoker)


Stats: Strength 11 | Dexterity 13 | Constitution 16 | Intelligence 17 | Wisdom 15 | Charisma 12
Time — location of recruitment: Beginning of Chapter Seven, after first leaving the palace — Baldur's Gate city, Three Old Kegs, upstairs Private Suites (top floor). May also join outside the palace (just before embarking on the expedition), and at the Fist Encampment in Chapter Eight.
Dynaheir's Custom equipment: None custom, and nothing noteworthy.
Dynaheir's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Lore (31).
Dynaheir's Weapon Proficiencies: Quarterstaff (Proficient), Sling (Proficient).
Choice spells chosen by default: Armor, Blindness, Identify, Magic Missile, Chromatic Orb (Stun), Blur, Knock, Invisibility, Mirror Image, Resist Fear, Web, Dispel Magic, Fireball, Haste, Slow, Ice Storm, Improved Invisibility, Stoneskin, Cloudkill, Sunfire.
Paired with: Minsc.
Mutually exclusive withEdwin.

   Edwin Odesseiron

(Lawful Evil Human Conjurer)


Stats: Strength 10 | Dexterity 10 | Constitution 16 | Intelligence 18 | Wisdom 10 | Charisma 10
Time — location of recruitment: Beginning of Chapter Eight — Flaming Fist Encampment of the Coast Way Crossing. He's scripted to wander down to the encampment when the party explores to the east of it.
Choice spells scribed by default: Armor, Magic Missile, Power Word: Sleep, Flame Arrow, Fireball, Haste, Spider Spawn, Stoneskin, Breach, Monster Summoning III.
Edwin's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Lore (31).
Edwin's Weapon Proficiencies: Dagger (Proficient), Quarterstaff (Proficient).
Edwin's custom equipmentBirthright Amulet (+1 spell slot per circle).
Mutually exclusive with: Minsc & Dynaheir.

   Glint Gardnersonson   
(Neutral Good Gnome Cleric/Thief multi-class)


Stats: Strength 13 | Dexterity 17 | Constitution 16 | Intelligence 14 | Wisdom 16 | Charisma 13
Time — location of recruitment: Beginning of Chapter Eight — Flaming Fist Encampment of the Coast Way Crossing. Just look for the lil' guy running around the encampment.
Glint's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Open Locks (105), Find/Remove Traps (100), Pick Pockets (30), Move Silently (30), Hide in Shadows (25), Detect Illusion (10), Set Traps (5), Backstab Multiplier (x3), Turn Undead (6), Lore (23).
Glint's Weapon Proficiencies: Flail / Morningstar (Proficient), Sling (Proficient), Sword & Shield Style (Proficient).
Glint's Custom equipment: Belt of the Cunning Rogue (Open Locks +15, Find Traps +15). It's not exclusive to him, though.
Choice spells: Armor of Faith, Bless, Doom, Sanctuary, Aid, Barkskin, Chant, Draw Upon Holy Might, Find Traps, Silence 15' Radius, Dispel Magic, Glyph of Warding, Miscast Magic, Invisibility Purge, Strength of One, Zone of Sweet Air, Cure Serious Wounds, Death Ward, Defensive Harmony, Free Action, Holy Power, Lesser Restoration, Negative Plane Protection, Protection From Evil 10' Radius.
Romanceable? Yes.
Quest: Glint Gardnersonson - Look for Glint's relatives; namely: Hoach Randymonk Bridgefort Interior, Pritchard Coalition Camp, Litla Cave of the Lost, Underground River, Rhonda Warrens. Refer to this post for more info on Glint.

   Jaheira   
   H a r p e r   
(True Neutral Half-elf Fighter/Druid multi-class)

Time — location of recruitment: Beginning of Chapter Nine — Far northeastern section of Troll Claw Forest (x=3700, y=270). She stands with Voghiln, though they are not enforced as a pair.
Jaheira's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Lore (1).
Jaheira's Weapon Proficiencies: Club (Proficient), Quarterstaff (Proficient), Sling (Proficient).
Jaheira's Custom equipment: If you didn't strip her of items at the Interlude's conclusion, she should have them on his person.
Choice spells: Armor of Faith, Bless, Doom, Barkskin, Dispel Magic, Summon Insects, Death Ward, Defensive Harmony, Negative Plane Protection, Chaotic CommandsHarper's Call, Insect Plague, Ironskins, Mass Cure, True Seeing.

   Khalid

(Neutral Good Half-elven Fighter)

Time — location of recruitment: End of Chapter Nine — Bridgefort courtyard IF you have hm join you in breaking the siege on Bridgefort; otherwise, Crusader Camp of Boareskyr Bridge, once the siege on Bridgefort is ended (and providing he didn't die during it).

Khalid's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Lore (10).
Khalid's Weapon Proficiencies: Longsword (Mastery), Longbow (Specialization), Axe (Proficient).
Khalid's Custom equipment: If you didn't strip him of items at the Interlude's conclusion, he should have them on his person. If he was never in your party: Full Plate Armor, Gift of Peace aka Helm of Defense, Longsword +1, Longbow +1, Ring of Protection +1, Medium Shield +1, Cloak of the Wolf: Relair's Mistake, Girdle of Bluntness.
Perks: Cowardice.

   Minsc

(Neutral Good Human Ranger)

Minsc's Custom equipment: Boo (*squeak*), Full Plate Armor, Kiel's Helmet.
Minsc's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Move Silently (57), Hide in Shadows (52), Lore (0), Racial Enemy: Gnoll.
Minsc's Weapon Proficiencies: Two-Handed Sword (Specialized), Mace (Specialized), Longbow (Specialized), Two-Weapon Style (Specialized).

Time — location of recruitment:  Beginning of Chapter Eight — North-central section of the Coast Way Crossing (annotated on map as: Baeloth's Black Pit to End All Black Pits).
M'Khiin's custom equipment: Grubdoubler's Axe +1 (throwing axe, on-hit 20% Confusion for 3 rounds, save vs. spells negates), Goblin Leathers +1 (Immunity: Entangle), M'Khiin's Buckler +2 (HPs +10, AC +3).
M'Khiin's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Detect Illusion (48), Lore (14).
M'Khiin Weapon Proficiencies: Quarterstaff (Proficient), Axe (Proficient), Shortbow (Proficient).
Special Ability / Modal (Shaman): Summon Ghostly Defender (summons an uncontrollable goblin chieftain spirit) / Shamanic Dance (a bard song-like ability that in this level range summons up to three uncontrollable major animal spirits).
Choice spells chosen by default (Shaman): Armor of Faith, Bless, Doom, Spirit Ward, Barkskin, Writhing Fog, Call Lightning, Spiritual Clarity, Summon Insects, Spirit Fire.
Reputation decrease upon recruitment: -2.
Romanceable? Hell, no.

   Neera   
(Chaotic Neutral Human Wild Mage)


Stats: Strength 11 | Dexterity 17 | Constitution 14 | Intelligence 17 | Wisdom 10 | Charisma 11
Time — location of recruitment: Midway point of Chapter Nine — Found at Boareskyr Bridge, inside Bridgefort. She will join the party on the spot.
Neera's Custom equipment: If you didn't strip her of items at the Interlude's conclusion, she should have them on her person (confirmed).
Neera's Default Skills (at time of recruitment): Lore (34).
Choice spells chosen: Neera maintains her spellbook from BG:EE (confirmed).
Neera's Weapon Proficiencies: Dagger (Proficient), Quarterstaff (Proficient).
Romanceable? Yes.
Quest: The Call of the Wild Mage. Neera is being driven nuts by a voice in her head. Initially, you must find five components with which she will brew a potion; they are: Potion of Perception (search this post; though they are found and bought elsewhere, too), Giant Spider Leg (search this post), Planetar Feather (search this post), Wilhelmina's Miracle Turnip Juice (this is covered in Part IX. It is purchased from Wilhelmina, at the Coalition Camp, Chapter Ten, after you have met with the commanders in the tent. She spawns in the far northern exit), Belladonna (found in Bloodbark Grove, Chapter Ten, annotated on the map). Once the items are found you must rest for Neera to brew the potion. It is then revealed that Adoy (the source of the voice bothering Neera) is trapped in the Fugue Plane. You will need to delve the Underground River and enter Kanagylm to find Adoy (he is unmissable).

Rasaad's Weapon Proficiencies: Short Sword (Proficient), Katana (Proficient), Scimitar / Wakizashi / Ninja-to (Proficient), Single-Weapon Style (Proficient).
Romanceable? Yes.

Voghiln's Weapon Proficiencies: Bastard Sword (Proficient), Axe (Proficient), Sword and Shield Style (Proficient), Two-Weapon Style (Proficient).
Voghiln's Custom equipment: Voghiln's Helmet (MR +5%, on-hit stun 15% vs. humanoid for 1 round, save vs. Wand negates).
Choice spells: Blindness, Chromatic Orb, Identify, Mirror Image, Flame Arrow, Haste, Slow, Invisibility, 10' Radius, Enchanted Weapon, Stoneskin.
Skald Song: to-hit +2, dmg +2, AC +2.
Romanceable? Yes.

    Will you eventually be posting companion quests? I started a campaign, but I am leery to get too far ahead that I miss out on some of those. If you have the chapter and conditions to activate the quests, that would be greatly appreciated.

    -Dorn has a mission too, in bridgefort. He has to kill the orc who leads the siege. The mission seems a little bugged.
    -Khalid has a little mission too, he needs a spider web to make a gift to Jaheira.
    -Edwin also has a mission, he needs to kill the red mage in bridgefort who is guarding the chest, as reward he will give you a robe 50% fire demage increase.

    I'm making a walkthrough too, but not in english. Hope this helps. Regards.
