Ring of Free Action Baldur's Gate 2

Ring of Free Action is a BG2 item in BioWare's cRPG of 2000, Baldur's Gate 2. Ring of Free Action is notable for conferring Free Action status, which wards against both movement-hindering and immobilization spells or spell-like abilities. This includes very powerful spells such as Web BG2. Note however, that Free Action does not protect against Stun (which is usually considered a unique negative status effect separate from mental or physical immobilization).

Note that Free Action blocks Haste BG2 and Improved Haste BG2. However, we can get around that by equipping the ring after casting the spells.

• Ring of Free Action: Edventar's Gift
• Special: The wearer is immune to everything, magical and otherwise, that affects mobility in any way. This includes haste and slow spells.
• This ring was given to the reef scavenger and hunter known only as Edventar, by a group of aquatic elves long his friends. His help in routing the "Pirate Queen" Yenandra of Dambrath was instrumental in their survival, though Yenandra continues to be feared anywhere the water meets land.

Ring of Free Action Location

In Baldur's Gate 2, Ring of Free Action is found on the first level of Spellhold. Note also that upgraded Flail of Ages BG2 has Free Action.

In Baldur's Gate 1, Ring of Free Action is found on Alai's corpse in the Iron Throne building of Baldur's Gate city. See: Zhalimar Cloudwulfe. Another can be stolen from Dushai in Ulgoth's Beard. Note also that Spider's Bane BG1 has Free Action.
