A-10 Tank Killer 1989
Dynamix released the original version of A-10 Tank Killer IBM PC MS-DOS in December of 1989. v1.5 of A-10 Tank Killer was released in 1991. v1.5 added seven Persian Gulf Operation Desert Storm scenarios, a floating view camera, dual-joystick support and improved the graphics and flight models of A-10.
A-10 Tank Killer was directed and designed by Damon Slye and programmed by Lincoln Hutton, David McClurg and Christopher Reese. A-10 Tank Killer was drawn by Mark Brenneman and Cyrus Kanga.
In A-10 Tank Killer players pilot the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II aka Warthog. A-10 Tank Killer is all about flying low and hitting targets hard via cannon, missiles and bombs.
The 3Space engine of A-10 Tank Killer employs light-sourced flat-shaded 3D with skyline gradients and digitized sprite-based explosions.
A-10 Tank Killer v1.0 of 1989 requires an i80386 CPU and 512K of free conventional RAM whereas A-10 Tank Killer v1.5 of 1991 requires 570K.
A-10 Tank Killer v1.0 of 1989 audio supports IBM PC Single Speaker, Tandy TX, Tandy SL/TL, Roland MT-32 and AdLib Music Synthesizer. A-10 Tank Killer v1.5 of 1991 audio supports PC Internal Speaker, Roland MT-32, Roland LAPC-1, AdLib Music Synthesizer and Sound Blaster.
A-10 Tank Killer v1.0 of 1989 was distributed on 2x 3.5" 720kB DD diskettes and extracts and installs to hard disk drive via Dynamix Smart Start. The install size of v1.0 is 1.5 megs and consists of 80 files. A-10 Tank Killer v1.5 of 1991 was distributed on 4x 3.5" 720kB DD diskettes or 3x 5.25" 1.2MB HD floppy disks and extracts and installs to hard disk drive via Dynamix Smart Start. The install size of v1.5 is 2.8 megs and consists of 22 files.
