Mega Typhoon Amiga
Nordlicht of Germany released Mega Typhoon exclusively for the Amiga in 1996. Mega Typhoon was programmed by Bernhard Braun, composed by Tobias Hirsch and drawn by Guido Kehrle and Bernhard Braun.
Mega Typhoon is one of the most advanced Amiga shoot 'em ups in terms of 2D graphics coding; and its audio-visuals are raw and gritty.
Mega Typhoon shifts around up to one hundred 16-color objects (64 bobs and 48 sprites) simultaneously while maintaining 50 FPS, yet it runs on an Amiga 500 with 1 meg RAM.
Mega Typhoon is vertically-scrolling super-scroller that also scrolls horizontally to a degree, thereby widening the playfield.
If Mega Typhoon came out just a few years earlier, it would have taken the Amiga gaming world by storm.
There are four stages in Mega Typhoon, each of which culminates in a boss fight.
Mega Typhoon Weapons System (Pick-ups & Power-ups):
- Spread Shot (S), Sinus Laser (L), Homing Missiles (H), Power Missiles (M)
- Smart Bomb (B), Get Full Weapon (P), Extra Life
Mega Typhoon was distributed on 1x 3.5" 880kB DD diskette. Originally, it was not hard disk drive installable.
