Hard n Heavy
reLINE Software of Germany released Hard'n'Heavy for Amiga in 1989. Hard n Heavy is a horizontally scrolling platformer-shooter that runs at 50 FPS.
Hard n Heavy is the sequel to Time Warp's Great Giana Sisters of 1988.
In Hard n Heavy players control Heavy or Metal robots over 25 time-limited stages that represent the mines of Mars. As in Great Giana Sisters the robots of Hard n Heavy can run, jump and fire ricocheting projectiles, but they cannot head-butt blocks. Instead, the robots can fire projectiles more rapidly and switch between weapons. Thus, Hard n Heavy places equal emphasis on platforming and run and gun gameplay. That said, there are still secrets to discover, currency to collect and times and scores to beat.
The Atari ST and Amiga versions of Hard n Heavy are hi-res conversions of the original C64 version of 1989 by Rainbow Arts, which was programmed by Armin Gessert and drawn by Andreas Escher. C64 Hard n Heavy runs at 50 FPS and features parallax scrolling.
Amiga Hard n Heavy was programmed by Volker Eloesser whereas Atari ST Hard n Heavy was programmed by Thomas Brockhage. The graphics for both versions were converted by Andreas Gehrke. As with Atari ST GGS the ST version of Hard n Heavy is flip-screen, not a scroller. Hard n Heavy Amiga audio was composed by Chris Hülsbeck via Soundfactory whereas ST Hard n Heavy audio was composed by Jürgen Piscol via Soundmachine.
Amiga Hard n Heavy was distributed by Rainbow Arts on 1x 3.5" 880kB DD diskette.
