PC Game Rocket Launchers
The object of PC game rocket launchers is to give the player an area-of-effect, long-range option in combat. Rocket launchers are often employed on mobs of enemies or armored vehicles, but they can also be used to facilitate exploration and modify the landscape of battle via destructibility.
All-time classics: Grenade Launcher and Rocket Launcher in id Software's Quake 1 (1996). The grenades bounce along the ground and off walls... in 1996. The rockets light up dark passageways as they fly down them... in 1996.
Capable of launching gyroscopically stabilized and white-phosphorus rockets, GEP Gun aka Guided Explosive Projectile Gun is found in Ion Storm's PC game, Deus Ex 1 (2000).
The LAW aka Light Anti-tank Weapon is found in Ion Storm's Deus Ex 1 (2000).
The M72A2 Light Anti-Tank Weapon (LAW) is found in Sir-Tech's Jagged Alliance 2 (1999).
Burst-firing five armor-piercing, high explosive or HEAP mini-rockets, the Auto Rocket Rifle is found in Sir-Tech's Jagged Alliance 2 (1999).
Capable of firing explosive and armor-piercing rockets, the Fallout Rocket Launcher is found in Interplay's Fallout 1 (1997) and Black Isle's Fallout 2 (1998).
Capable of firing high explosive, incendiary and anti-alien gas rockets, the Marsec Heavy Launcher is found in Mythos Games' X-COM: Apocalypse (1997). The Marsec Heavy Launcher is one of the most powerful rocket launchers in PC gaming history.
