Engineers Civ2
Engineers is a Civilization 2 Unit in MicroProse's TBS Game of 1996, Civilization 2. Engineers can build roads, railroads, farms and mines as well as improve terrain and transform terrain.
cf. Civ2 Terrain.
Take for example Mountains. But we need to irrigate that land. Therefore:
Transform Mountains to Hills to Plains to Grassland to Irrigation to Farm (with roads and railroads).
Engineers can also clean up pollution and build airbases and fortresses.
Engineers irrigate and build roads and mines at twice the speed of Settlers. They also move twice as fast and have twice the staying power of Settlers.
In short, Engineers are awesome.
- Cost: 40
- Movement: 2
- Attack: 0
- Defense: 2
- Hit Points: 2
- Firepower: 1
- Ignores enemy zones of control
- Prerequisite: Explosives
As technology progressed through the centuries, people began to specialize in a single skill or field of knowledge. The early pioneers who acted in the multiple roles of farmers, builders, and just about any other occupation required by their situation, were replaced by engineers specifically trained in a single discipline. Specialized training provided engineers the time and the skill necessary to accomplish feats of construction and environmental manipulation never before experienced in history.
