Extended Play Productions released FIFA Soccer 96 / FIFA 96: Virtual Soccer Stadium for IBM PC MS-DOS in December of 1995.
The PC version of FIFA Soccer 96 was lead-programmed by Penny Lee, lead-drawn by Caroline Ancessi and lead-composed by Rob Bailey.
FIFA Soccer 96 displays its menus and 3D texture-mapped playfield in 256-color VGA 320x200 or 256-color square-pixel SVGA 640x480. The ball and football players in FIFA Soccer 96 are pre-rendered, motion-captured rotating and scaling drop-shadowed sprites, not 3D models.
FIFA Soccer 96 requires an i80486DX2-66 MHz CPU, 300K of free conventional RAM, 7.5 megs of XMS RAM and VESA SVGA graphics card. FIFA Soccer 96 is a Rational Systems' DOS/4GW Protected mode run-time v1.97.
FIFA Soccer 96 supports 4-button joysticks and gamepads.
FIFA Soccer 96 audio supports Sound Blaster, Sound Blaster 16, Sound Blaster Pro, Gravis UltraSound and Windows Sound System.
FIFA Soccer 96 was distributed on 1x CD-ROM extracts and installs to hard disk drive via FIFA '96 Install. The install size is 20 megs and consists of 200 files.
