The Bruce Artwick Organization released Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 for IBM PC MS-DOS 3.2 in 1993.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 requires an i80386SX CPU, 530K of free conventional RAM and 512K of vRAM. Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 will employ up to 2 megs of EMS RAM and of 800K of XMS RAM.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 displays in 16-color EGA 640x350, 256-color VGA 320x400 or 256-color SVGA 640x400. Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 can display full-screen render-fields of up to 640x400 that can zoom from aircraft views out to planet-wide views.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 graphics support VESA 1.2 Compatible, Video 7, Tseng 4000, Trident 8900, Paradise SVGA, S3 86C911, Cirrus Logic 542X and Trident 8900 Ultimate.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 audio supports PC Speaker, AdLib/PC Speaker, AdLib/Covox LPT1, AdLib Covox LPT2, Sound Blaster, Thunderboard, ATI Stereo F/X, Sound Blaster Pro, Pro Audio Spectrum and Microsoft Windows Sound System.

Microsoft and BAO released Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.1 for IBM PC MS-DOS in 1995. Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.1 added 100 more airports and 3D fog, clouds and thunderstorms as well as a hazing effect. In addition, terrain detail was enhanced and rendering engine performance was improved.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.1 was distributed on 1x CD-ROM and extracts and installs to hard disk drive via LHA's SFX 2.12L by Yoshi. The install size is 14 megs and consists of 774 files.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.1 Scenery Pack
Microsoft and BAO released Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.1 Scenery Pack for IBM PC MS-DOS in June of 1995. The Scenery Pack includes the Caribbean, Hawaii and Japan scene and texture add-on packs.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.1 Scenery Pack was distributed on 1x CD-ROM and extracts and installs to hard disk drive via LHA's SFX 2.12L by Yoshi. The install size becomes 34 megs and consists of 1,061 files.
