Dungeon Hack IBM PC MS-DOS 1993 DreamForge Intertainment

Dungeon Hack IBM PC 1993

DreamForge Intertainment released Dungeon Hack for IBM PC MS-DOS 5.0 in 1993.

Dungeon Hack is a flip-screen cRPG in the vein of Dungeon Master of 1987 on Atari ST. However, Dungeon Hack is not party-based like DM and its clones. Instead, Dungeon Hack focuses on randomly-generated and customizable dungeons. Over 4 billion different dungeons can be generated by Dungeon Hack. In addition, Dungeon Hack features chargen, auto-mapping and optional permadeath.

Dungeon Hack was programmed by Thomas Holmes and designed by Thomas Holmes and Chris Straka.

Dungeon Hack displays in 256-color VGA 320x200, but its active drawspace is only 176x120.

Dungeon Hack requires an i80386-33 MHz CPU, 575,000 bytes of free conventional RAM, 960,000 bytes of EMS RAM for digitized sound effects and 1,048,576 bytes of XMS RAM for optimal performance (2 megs of RAM).

Dungeon Hack employs TSR's AD&D 2nd Edition ruleset.

Dungeon Hack was distributed on 1x 3.5" 720kB DD diskette and 3x 3.5" 1.44MB HD diskettes and extracts and installs to hard disk drive via Forgotten Realms: Dungen Hack Installer. The install size is 8.7 megs and consists of 26 files.

Dungeon Hack audio is set up via SSI Sound Installer. Dungeon Hack audio supports the use of two sound cards: one for music, the other for digitized sound effects. For music, Dungeon Hack audio supports Roland MT-32, LAPC-1, or MPU-401. For digitized sound effects, Dungeon Hack supports Sound Blaster Regular/Pro, AdLib and Media Vision Thunder Board.
