Prophet for Neverwinter Nights

How to Download & Install the Prophet Series
(plus The Cave of Songs & Honor Among Thieves)

Ok, so you want to play Baldecaran's Prophet series but where do you download it from and how do you install it? Well, this post should help newbies who have never installed a NWN module before.

First things first, make sure your game is patched to 1.69. Even if it's the GoG version I would run this to be sure, as some people have had problems getting community content to work, which the patch seemed to fix each time. So, patch your game!

In addition I suggest you completely back up your pristine Neverwinter Nights install to somewhere safe before you starting messing around with it, just in case you stuff something up. You will also need 7-Zip to extract the zip, rar, 7z and exe archives, so grab it here if you don't already have it. Done that? Ok...

The Prophet series consists of a Prologue and three Chapters. Download the files from neverwintervault.org, which I've linked to directly for your convenience:

Download this archive (prophet_prologue_v2.0.zip) and the readme.

Download this archive (prophet_chapter_1_v2.0.zip) and the readme.

Download this archive (prophet_chapter_2_v1.2.zip) and the readme.

Download this archive (prophet_3.7z) and the readme.

Downloaded them? Ok, use 7-zip to extract these four archives somewhere temporary (ie, NOT in your NWN installation folder); the process may take a lil' while because of all the content.

Done that? Ok, lets go through these one at a time.

First, open the prophet_prologue_v2.0e folder and copy the Prophet - Prologue - It cannot be denied.mod to your NWN modules folder (normally located in C:\Program Files (x86)\NeverwinterNights\NWN).

Second, open the prophet_chapter_1_v2.0 folder and copy the Prophet - Chapter I - By the Will of Kings and Mortals.mod to your NWN modules folder.

Third, open the prophet_chapter_2_v1.2 folder and copy the Prophet - Chapter II - The Century of Sorrow.mod to your NWN modules folder.

Fourth and last, open the prophet_3 folder and copy the Prophet - Chapter III - That Which is Destined.mod to your NWN modules folder. There is also a hak file in here: copy the prophet3.hak to your NWN haks folder.

Now, lets download and install the other content required by the Prophet series.

Download this archive (cep_v1x.exe)

Download this archive (cep168.rar)

Download this archive (prophetmusic.zip), this archive (prophet0.zip), this archive (prophet1.zip) and this archive (prophet2.zip).

Use 7-Zip to extract these six archives (including the exe) somewhere temporary; the process may take a lil' while because of all the content.

Done that? Ok, lets go through these one at a time.

Open cep_v1x folder and copy the 13 hak files to your NWN hak folder. Now, navigate to the tlk folder and copy cep.tlk to your NWN tlk folder. If you don't have one, create it.

Next, open the cep168 folder and copy cep1patch168.hak and cep1patch168_ck.hak to your NWN hak folder, overwriting/replacing when prompted. We don't need the tlk. Ok, CEP is now installed!

Now, open the prophet0, prophet1 and prophet2 folders and copy the prophet0.hak, prophet1.hak and prophet2.hak files to your NWN hak folder (we already copied prophet3.hak before).

Finally, open the prophetmusic folder and copy the 14 bmu files to your NWN music folder.

The Prophet series is now fully installed!

That's it! You have just installed the Prophet series, and are in for a treat. Enjoy!

How to Download & Install The Cave of Songs & Honor Among Thieves

You may also like to try out two of Baldecaran's earlier modules: The Cave of Songs & Honor Among Thieves. In fact, I urge you to play these before the Prophet series and use the same character if you like. They are great modules in their own right. The Cave of Songs is a wonderful mod to ease new players into NWN and the Runelands custom campaign setting, and Honor Among Thieves is the best rogue-based module on the NWN platform.

Download this archive (cave_of_songs.rar)

Extract the archive, open the_cave_of_songs folder and copy The Cave of Songs.mod to your NWN modules folder. That's it; installation doesn't get any easier than that!

Download this archive (honor_among_thieves.rar)

Extract the archive, open the honor_among_thieves folder and copy Honor Among Thieves.mod to your NWN modules folder, and the pc-hat.hak to your NWN hak folder. That's all there is to it!

Don't forget to vote here and here.

Enjoy!

  2. Thank you for these instructions. I recently finished Cave of songs with this character : Barbarian/Thief (6/1) Chaotic neutral and i'm planning to continue the adventure with Honor Among Thieves and Prophet Saga with the same character.

    1. Excellent idea. I did this, too (though, as yet, I have not completed Prophet).

  4. I just had a super trippy playthrough of this entire series (plus Cave and Honor) with a really interesting series of roleplay choices given what the character went through in Cave and Honor. Let's just say that ending Honor Among Thieves with one of the worst possible endings but a character that mostly means well makes for a fascinating journey through phrophet, to say the least.

    1. You might like to give Swordflight a whirl after you're done with your Aielund Saga run.
