Bio Menace Original Version
Apogee Software released Bio Menace aka BioMenace for IBM PC MS-DOS in August of 1993. Bio Menace is a three-episode scrolling run and gun and platform game.
Bio Menace was designed, written, programmed and drawn by Jim Norwood, audio-programmed by Jason Blochowiak and composed by Robert Prince. Bio Menace employs id Software's Commander Keen engine of 1990.
Bio Menace is a PC-exclusive game.
Bio Menace displays in double-buffered 16-color EGA or VGA 320x200 and features 40 FPS multi-directional screen-scrolling via Carmack's Adaptive Tile Refresh.
In Bio Menace players assume the role of Snake Logan, a CIA agent and tough guy who fires an M60 pulse rifle and lobs grenades. The object of Bio Menace is to collect keys and reach level-exits while avoiding or destroying enemies. Bio Menace secret moves include Super Plasma Bolt, Fireball Weapon, Personal Shield and Invincibility.
Bio Menace requires an i80286 CPU, 414K of free conventional memory, 64K of EMS/XMS memory and an EGA graphics card with 256K vRAM. Bio Menace audio supports AdLib, Sound Blaster and PC Internal Speaker.
Bio Menace controls support keyboard and two-button joystick.
Bio Menace was distributed on 2x 3.5" 1.44MB HD diskettes and extracts and installs to hard disk drive via Bio Menace Installation and PKSFX Fast Self-extract Utility v2.04g of 1989-93 by PKWARE Inc. The install size for v1.1 is 3 megs and consists of 36 files.
