Leader Board Golf Simulation
Sculptured Software ported Access Software's C64 Leader Board of 1986 to Amiga in 1986. Leader Board is a pro-golf simulator designed and developed by Bruce Carver and Roger Carver for the C64. Brent Erickson converted the original C64 version of Leader Board to Atari ST whereas the Amiga version of Leader Board was converted by Craig Konder and Hal Rushton based on the ST version. Leader Board graphics were drawn by Bryan Bradenburg.
Leader Board is famous for its ball physics and streamlined golf-shot aim, swing and snap mechanics. An on-screen aiming cursor can be moved left and right to set the direction of the shot. Then, players employ an on-screen indicator to set swing-power and wrist-snap, which determine whether the ball is sliced, hooked or hit straight. When putting, the slope of the green is shown and an aiming cursor and a power meter are employed. Naturally, wind and slope need to be taken into account when aiming and hitting shots.

The basic rules of golf and the mechanics of Leader Board are covered by me in World Class Leaderboard.
Amiga Leader Board displays in 16-color 320x200. Amiga Leaderboard redraws a 224x200 pixel drawspace after each stroke -- every line, solid-fill, shrub and tree. The rotoscoped golfer sprite is well-animated and the ball and trees are drop-shadowed.
Leader Board audio consists only of hit, ricochet, splash and holing the ball sound effects. There are no environmental or crowd sound effects.
Leader Board was distributed on 1x 3.5" 880kB DD diskette. Tournament Disk 1 of 1986 added Augusta and Pinehurst courses.
Leader Board copy protection: dongle check.
Leader Board C64 1986
Access Software released Leader Board, Leader Board Tournament and Executive Leader Board for the Commodore 64 in 1986. C64 Leader Board features four 18-hole golf courses, Tournament adds four new 18-hole golf courses and Executive adds more graphics detail (note the trees in the bottom row of the above image-assembly). C64 Leader Board was developed by Bruce Carver and Roger Carver.
C64 Leader Board is a historically significant golf game. The controls, ball physics, graphics and sound effects are all great. Most of the features of the PC and ST/Amiga versions of Leader Board are included in C64 Leader Board.
