Fury of the Furries
Atreid Concept of France released Fury of the Furries for the Amiga in 1993. Distributed by Kalisto, Fury of the Furries is a puzzle-platform game notable for its employment of momentum physics. To emphasize, control in Fury of the Furries is very much based on momentum physics as opposed to rigid stop-on-a-dime control. In Fury of the Furries momentum needs to be continually built-up and brought down in order to progress through the stages.
In Fury of the Furries players control a Tiny, which is a small, round and furry creature that is able to shift into four different forms based on the elements of Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Each form confers upon the Tiny different powers. For example:
- The yellow-colored Fire Tiny can throw fireballs and is immune to fire
- The red-colored Earth Tiny can eat through destructible blocks
- The green-colored Air Tiny can shoot out and swing on grappling hook
- The blue-colored Water Tiny can dive underwater and spit water bubbles
All forms of the Tiny can walk, run, jump, swim on the water's surface and push objects, but only the Blue-colored Air Tiny can pull objects (with the grappling hook).
En route to exits, the Tiny must shift into different forms and use the powers of the different forms in order to solve the puzzles and get past the hazards that are presented in each stage.
The Tiny journeys through the eight regions of planet Sklumph, seven of which consist of 10 stages (the Castle has four stages). Stages feature teleports that transport the Tiny and some objects about the playfield as well as colored-fields that deny the Tiny's elemental power. In addition to monsters, hazards include fire, acid, wind, currents, spikes and rising and falling objects.
The object of Fury of the Furries is to overthrow The Wicked One and save the King of the Tinies.
Published by Mindscape, Amiga Fury of the Furries was designed by Cyrille Fontaine, programmed by Sébastien Wloch, lead-drawn by François Rimasson and composed by Frédéric Motte and Olivier Bailly-Maître.
