F29 Retaliator 1989

F29 Retaliator is a 16 bit combat flight simulator released by Digital Image Design for the Amiga, Atari ST and IBM PC MS-DOS (1989-1991).

F29 Retaliator was conceived and designed by Martin Kenwright. The 1989 Amiga version was programmed by Phil Allsopp; the 1989 Atari ST version by Russell Payne; the 1990 IBM PC version by Jas C. Brooke.

In F29 Retaliator, the player can choose to pilot the Lockheed F-22 Advanced Tactical Fighter or the Grumman F-29 Next Generation Tactical Fighter.

While not necessarily the best flight sim on ST, Amiga or IBM PC, F29 Retaliator had the smoothest 3D graphics from 1987-1991. Even on IBM PCs F29 Retaliator's engine was the polygon-pusher until the advent of Falcon 3.0.

The player can choose from four scenarios (locations), and there are 90 missions in total.

  • American Desert
  • Pacific Scenario
  • Middle East Conflict
  • European Battleground
